DIY Place card table:
One easy way to save some extra cash is by turning elements of your event into a fun DIY project.
We did just that for the last event we planned. In this case it was less about saving money and more about customizing to what the client had in mind but we ended up saving about $200 by going with this design over the standard floral arrangement that the florist would have put on the table. It only cost us $15 to do (we only needed to purchase one can of spray paint, a couple sheets of sparkle paper and a 2 inch circle punch, the other materials we had on hand)
Here’s how we did it:
The branches were taken straight from nature, just simply hit a local trail and look on the ground (look for a fallen tree as this will ensure all your branches are similar in size and match well)
Then taking one can of silver spray paint (or you could use another color or leave them bare if you like the natural look) we gave the branches two coats and allowed 24 hours to dry.
We purchased sparkle paper in the events colors (punchy pink and orange) from Paper Source and used a 2 inch circle punch to cut out the place cards (we used one we had but you could also get creative and use a fancier one like the scalloped one below) and hand wrote each attendees name of the back. Then using a hole punch we gave each a hole and tied a piece of ribbon around each.
The day of we rounded up three vases and some clear stones and placed pink and orange LED lights throughout (this can be done with regular white LED votives that you can find easily or left out all together, if you don’t use them you may want to opt for colored stones to match your color scheme), stuck the branches in and hung our place cards. Viola! Now you have a really creative placecard setting that will make your event stand out
