How to Simplify Your WFH Work Space
1 Keep only what you need and use on a daily basis
Keep only what you need and use on a daily basis in your workspace whether it is a makeshift kitchen counter desk or a real desk in an actual office. The less you see the better. If you are lucky enough to have a dedicated desk, keep it to just computer, the physical supplies you use, and one decorative item.
2 declutter the area around your work space
If you have a small workspace but your “desk” is located in your living room, which happens to be a cluttered mess, you will also need to tackle the areas you can see from your workspace, otherwise, you will likely still be distracted. I always tell clients the average house in America has over 300,000 items and I’m sure you can see 80,000 of those items from your workspace!
3 contain your portable workspace
If you have a portable workspace (i.e., you work at the dining room table all day and eat dinner at that table each night), keep a small container to house all of your work items so moving from space to space is an easy transition come dinner time. It would be ideal if you can get it down to just one container so you are not moving several containers each day.
