Declutter Your Digital World
Most people today work on computers and may not use any other physical supplies. If this is you, it’s crucial to keep your digital life organized!
Clean out your desktop regularly, only the documents that are current and active should warrant an icon. A desktop with tons of icons on it can actually slow the performance of your computer. Sounds crazy? I thought so too until I tried it myself!
But what if you have a lot of current and active documents? If you have a lot of icons on your desktop and want easy access to certain documents, create folders on the desktop and organize from there (i.e family & work). It is important to keep the number of categories small as you will be less likely to organize going forward if there are too many options to choose from.
It is also important that your computer storage does not get too cluttered with things you don’t need. The easiest way to clean out what you don’t need quickly is to go to ‘finder’ sort by size with largest first and delete what you don’t need. Starting with the largest files will give you the biggest impact and you won’t waste time deleting items that aren’t taking up much space.
Stay on top of your email. Is there anything worse than opening your email on a Monday morning to the notification that you have 20,000 emails in your inbox?
Unsubscribe to unsolicited emails you don’t actually open and read. My preferred way is to do this straight from my iPhone. When you open an email just click the unsubscribe link at the very top.
Think twice before giving your email out in the future to minimize junk.
Start from the bottom up as older items are easier to delete when doing a quick clean-up.
